I’m a CPA with more than 25 years of experience helping those experiencing divorce achieve an understanding and a fair division of their assets. I am certified in financial forensics and accredited in business valuation. But most importantly, I’m an independent, neutral party who can help determine income, child support, spousal maintenance, and how to divide complex financial assets fairly.
During a divorce, both parties are entitled to a fair division of finances. This might include division of retirement accounts, real estate, or a business as well as the division of debt. I help both parties understand their financial situation so fair decisions can be made in regard to division of property, spousal maintenance, and child support. For many cases, mediation is preferred; other cases may require court intervention.
During mediation, we’ll discuss your financial assets and debts to get an idea of the complexity of your financial situation, including investments, retirement accounts, and business interests. We will also review and discuss income, net cash flow, and required child or spousal support. It is preferred that your attorney participate in mediation with you.
I am hired directly by the parties for mediation. In litigation situations I’m hired by your attorney as their expert witness for your case.
I am a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice. As a financial neutral, I work with attorneys, judges, and parties on asset division and business valuation issues as well as determining income, child support, and spousal maintenance.
